Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada She was the daughter of Sandra Kay
(Gale), a nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams, a truck driver and furniture
moving company. She is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel began acting when
she was an teen. When she was 13 years old, she was performing in Shakespearean
productions at summer camp for theater. Following graduation, Rachel received a
BFA degree from York University in Theater. After appearing in Disney's The
Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998) in which she was a lead in Slings and
Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama that chronicles the struggles and triumphs of
the Shakespearean theater group. In 2003, she won a Gemini award. Her
performance as Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004) immediately made her a star
on Hollywood's most sought-after young actors. After that, she starred opposite
Ryan Gosling as the romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' bestseller
The Notebook (2004). This was a huge hit at the box-office and became the most
loved romantic comedy for the young crowd. After the film was completed,
McAdams and Gosling became engaged and started dating until the middle of 2007.
McAdams and Gosling were soon in a relationship and started to get married.
After appearing in The Lucky Ones, a military drama, State of Play, and The
Time Traveler's Wife (2009) McAdams was a co-star with Jude Law and Robert
Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's global blockbuster Sherlock Holmes. McAdams was the
shrewd producer for Morning Glory (2010). She also was the fiancee with a
materialistic character Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011).
McAdams returned to romantic drama in The Vow (2012), which she starred
opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams also stars alongside Terrence Malick in To the
Wonder (2012) and Noomi Rapace as Passion (2012) in Brian De Palma’s thriller.
