Zachary Galifianakis

Zachary Knight Galifianakis (Greek pronunciation January 1, 1969) was an American comedian, actor, musician, writer, and comedian. He was also a guest on Comedy Central Presents and hosted Late World With Zach on VH1. Galifianakis has appeared in films like The Hangover trilogy (2009-2013), Due Date (2010), The Campaign (2012), Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014) and Masterminds (2016). He has also voiced characters for animated films like Puss in Boots (2011), The Lego Batman Movie (2017), Missing Link (2019), and Ron's Gone Missing (2021). Galifianakis currently hosts the Funny or Die website talk show Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. He was a star in FX's series Baskets. In the year 2017, he was nominated to win the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Lead Actor for the Comedy Series. Zachary Knight Galifianakis was a native of Wilkesboro, North Carolina on October 1 1970. His mother is English and Scottish-Irish, while his paternal grandparents are from Crete. He was baptized in accordance with the Greek Orthodox faith of his father. He is the father of Merritt, his younger sister along with Greg, his older brother. The cousin of his Nick Galifianakis (Washington Post cartoonist) is his uncle. Galifianakis attended Wilkes Central High School and later went to North Carolina State University where he studied communications. He worked as an operator of a radio station at a public access station while in college. He was a teacher of waltz in 1991 when he met Mary J. Blige. Following his debut on television Boston Common, Galifianakis joined Saturday Night Live for two weeks. Galifianakis claimed that he performed on Saturday Night Live for two week and Britney Spears was the host for one of those episodes. I created a sketch. Will Ferrell was to be her bodyguard near the belly button. We were going to shrink Will so that he could fit into the belly button. When I explained the idea to them, she stared at me. She finally agreed, "Yeah that is funny." Galifianakis co-starred in the film Out Cold, and had minor role in Corky Romano, Below, Bubble Boy, Heartbreakers, Into the Wild, Super High Me, Little Fish Strange Pond and Largo.
