Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami, Florida on November 30 1977. Steve Aoki is an American electro house music producer as well as record producer, D.J. Music executive. He's the 3rd child of Chizuru Kobayashi & Rocky Aoki. His father, a former wrestler, co-founded the restaurant chain Benihana. There are two of his older siblings, sister Kana (who is sometimes referred to by her middle name Grace) & brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a model and actress. He was raised in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with the class of 1995 with a B.A. in badminton. He then attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating w/ 2 B.A. He graduated with two bachelor's degrees, one in feminist studies, and the one in Sociology. He made DIY recordings and also hosted underground music events from his Biko room at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative while in college. For its use as a venue for concerts, the Biko room was dubbed The Pickle Patch. The owner was also involved in student activism at UCSB. He was the founder of a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on campus. In his early 20s, he was running his own label which was named Dim Mak. It was a reference to his hero from his childhood, Bruce Lee. The band released I'm In the House in March 2010 as a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq The alter-ego of will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas. The track charted at No. 29 on the U.K. Singles Chart in its 1st week of release. The song reached the top five in both the U.K. Indie Chart and the U.K. Dance Chart. The song was also featured on the MTV show Jersey Shore as well as in the feature film Piranha & the trailer for Think Like A Man. In a May interview with HitQuarters Lucas Secon, the producer-songwriter was able to confirm that he and Rivers Cuomo had just worked on the single. Pollstar declared him the top-grossing North America dance artist from tour dates in 2012. He has collaborated w/ artists such as Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, LMFAO, Linkin Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, Rise Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He's known for remixes with artists like Kid Cudi
